AI Fridays: My Favorite AI/Therapy Newsletter

1. OpenAI launches "ChatGPT Health" (and what it means for you)

On January 7, 2026, OpenAI officially launched "ChatGPT Health," a dedicated, HIPAA-supported environment within the platform. This new update allows users (your clients) to connect their Apple Health data and even electronic medical records (EHRs) directly to ChatGPT to get personalized health insights.

For therapists, this signals a massive shift: clients will now arrive at sessions armed with AI-generated summaries of their sleep, anxiety trends, and "diagnoses." While the Enterprise version of this tool is HIPAA-compliant, the standard version your clients use is a privacy minefield if they share your clinical notes with it.

Action: Update your "Digital Media Policy" to address this immediately. Explicitly advise clients that while they can use AI for self-reflection, uploading your clinical summaries or secure messages into their personal ChatGPT account puts their privacy at risk. Be prepared to discuss "AI second opinions" in sessions starting this month.

Moonraker AI Newsletter

Jan 13th

Moonraker.AI is my favorite AI/Therapy newsletter. Each newsletter contains 5 or so headlines about the latest in AI and Therapy.

AND each newsletter makes sure to say exactly how the current trends impact your practice and what you can do about it.

Above is an example. Not only are they up to date on how ChatGPT Health is changing the landscape, they have short actionable takeaways.

I think it's a great resource to help us prepare for what's coming over the next few years.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Just thought to pass along the resource.

Starting Feb 6th I'm giving a training on resolving complex grief.

We'll be watching a tape of Bruce Ecker working with a mother after the tragic loss of her son.
