About the event
Deconstructing Carl Rogers: A Deliberate Practice Training
The feeling of clinical stagnation—knowing there is a deeper level of connection possible but not knowing the exact "how" to get there—can make the work feel repetitive. You start to wonder if your presence is truly a catalyst for change or if you’ve simply become a professional listener.
In this course, we will conduct an in-depth analysis of recorded clinical tape featuring Carl Rogers. We will watch the master of Person-Centered Therapy navigate the delicate, high-stakes moments of human connection.
We don't just watch; we use the science of Process Coding and Deliberate Practice to learn the micro-movements of how Rogers creates deep presence. We strip away the "legend" of Rogers to reveal the repeatable, observable skills he used to create the "necessary and sufficient conditions" for profound psychological growth.
The Schedule
Session 1: March 6th | The Anatomy of Presence An in-depth coding of Rogers’ micro-interventions and the neurobiology of core empathy.
BONUS TRAINING: March 13th | Decoding The 7 Silences of Psychotherapy A Deliberate Practice training included free with your registration. Master the art of the clinical pause and learn to use silence as a diagnostic and therapeutic tool.
Session 2: March 27th | Integration & Deliberate Practice Watching the shift from "active listening" to "evocative presence" and practicing these skills in real-time.
Logistics & Investment
Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM CST
Location: Secure Zoom Room
CEs: 6 NBCC CEs through the University of Arkansas (Includes both Rogers sessions + The 7 Silences Bonus)

Live Experience & Requirements
The Power of Presence: Because we are viewing copyrighted clinical footage of Carl Rogers, no recordings will be available. This ensures a private, high-stakes learning environment that can only be experienced live.
Active Participation: To foster a true "study group" atmosphere, this is a cameras on and mics on experience. We learn through active discussion and real-time process coding.
Who Should Join? Appropriate for supervisors, licensed clinicians, and unlicensed clinicians. If you're ready to move beyond "active listening" and start deliberately practicing the nuances of empathic presence, this is for you.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that clinical schedules can change. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the first session (February 6th) are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 2 days of the start date are non-refundable but may be applied as credit toward a future Master Therapist intensive.
