About the event
Suicidal clients are one of the most concerning parts of being a clinician, and rightfully so when a life hangs in the balance. However, much of the anxiety of suicide assessment can be minimized by adequate training. In this training you will 1) review the clinical implications of modern suicide theory and research, and 2) practice specific skills to enhance your ability to assess suicidality.
Special attention will be given to practicing the skills necessary for suicide assessment. This training will use the gold standard in mastery based learning, Deliberate Practice role plays, to teach you assessment skills. As such 1.5 hours of this training will be in Deliberate Practice role plays.
What you will earn:
- 3 NBCC CEs
- Length : 3 hrs
What you will learn :
- Participants will be able to describe three major theories of suicidality.
- Participants will discuss research related to the major theories of suicidality.
- Participants will use Deliberate Practice to practice listening for markers of suicidality
