About the event

We often treat our mental and physical health as two separate worlds, but our bodies don't work that way. To truly care for ourselves, we have to understand how the two are intertwined. How does physical stress affect our peace of mind, and how can mental healing lead to physical vitality?

In this webinar, hosts Silena Scott, Ph.D, LMFT, and Jordan Harris, Ph.D, LPC-S, LMFT-S, will lead a vital conversation with Shakira Eakins, LCSW, the overlap between mental and physical health specifically within the Black community.

About Shakira Eakins, LCSW:

Shakira Eakins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher with over 14 years of experience providing therapy, advocating for the oppressed, and collaborating with community partners. In addition to her clinical work, she facilitates workshops for professionals across a variety of settings.

Shakira works closely with her clients to help them foster a deep connection with themselves and their communities. She provides virtual therapy to Arkansas residents aged 18 and older, specializing in supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other challenges that impact their sense of safety and connection. Her mission is to develop healthy therapeutic relationships and build community through the intersection of individual counseling and community yoga.

Bianca Wallace is a licensed massage therapist, full-spectrum doula, and the owner of Behold Beauty and Massage. With over six years of experience in therapeutic bodywork, she is dedicated to helping clients relieve stress, manage chronic pain, and reconnect with their bodies through intentional, restorative care.

Through her practice, she has created a welcoming space centered on holistic healing and culturally aware wellness. While her background as a full-spectrum doula informs her compassionate approach, her primary focus is therapeutic massage as a powerful tool for both physical restoration and mental well-being.

She is passionate about advocating for accessible, affirming care and empowering her community to prioritize rest, healing, and whole-body health.
